It wasn’t until recently that longtime homeowners in Ormond Beach, FL, began to seriously consider the safety of one particular area of their home. They noticed the front stoop and walkway had a few areas of settling and uneven concrete.
It is common for concrete to sink over time, largely due to settling soil underneath. Settling concrete can result in cracks and noticeable gaps between the slabs. Not only are these issues unsightly, they also present tripping hazards.
This concerned the homeowners, and they were motivated to fix the problem once and for all. During their research, the owners found information online about Florida Foundation Authority and they wanted to contact us for further guidance. They met with one of our inspectors who evaluated the condition of the concrete. Our inspector then presented the owners with our state-of-the-art repair solution that would perfectly solve their problem.
One of our crews, led by Foreman Joshua Ortiz, then used the PolyRenewal system to lift, level and stabilize the concrete.
Very small holes are drilled into the sinking slabs, and then injection ports are placed in these holes. Special equipment is then used to inject structural-grade polyurethane underneath the slabs. This high-density material expands to fill any voids, and this allows for the precise lifting and leveling of the slabs. PolyRenewal is lightweight, but high-capacity and waterproof. It will not wash out from underneath the slabs, and it has a quick cure time of 15 minutes. Joint sealant also was used to protect the newly repaired concrete.
The homeowners were excited to have this reliable project completed so the home will be safer living environment.
