Joseph is one of our inspectors at Florida Foundation Authority. Previously, he worked for more than two years as a commercial and residential construction sales leader. He is excited to join our team because his commitment to doing the job correctly and with integrity aligns with the Florida Foundation Authority mission. Outside of work, Joseph spends with spare time with his family and daughter, Lorelei, and playing basketball, tennis, and video games.

During the two years that he has lived in his house, a homeowner in Orlando, FL, noticed a structural problem was worsening. Some areas of the floor felt soft and uneven, indicating the floor joists in the crawl space were sagging and failing to properly support the above floor.
The homeowner wanted to address this problem before serious damage resulted, so he started to research repair options. He found information about Florida Foundation Authority online, and he was motivated to contact us for further guidance.
Inspector Joseph Grimsley ventured into the tight crawl space to assess the condition of the floor joists and support system. The home, built in 1934, had wooden joists and supports, which is common for homes built at that time. But wood can easily rot and fail over time. Other repair attempts, like bottle jacks, also were not properly supporting the above floor.
Joseph discussed his findings with the owner, and he then recommended one type of our many reliable repair solutions.
One of our crews, led by Doug Secrest, then installed several IntelliJacks underneath new steel support beams in the crawl space. Made of galvanized steel, the heavy-duty IntelliJacks permanently stabilize the floor and floor joists. They prevent further sagging and offer the best opportunity to lift the sagging floor areas aback to level. IntelliJacks also will not rust or corrode, and they are designed to stop settling. But if any settlement occurs, the IntelliJacks can easily be adjusted.
The homeowner is pleased to now have a safe and stable living environment because of this trustworthy repair solution.
A homeowner in Longwood, FL, recently began to notice a problem with her exterior concrete. Several areas of the sidewalk in front of her house were settling.
The homeowner was concerned with these unappealing tripping hazards, and she wanted to address this problem right away. After seeing TV ads for Florida Foundation Authority, she was eager to contact us to see how we could help them. Once she met with one of our inspectors, Joseph Grimsley, who evaluated the condition of the concrete, the owner was ready for one of our crews to install a state of the art repair solution.
Foreman Mike McDonald and his crew used the PolyRenewal System to lift, level and stabilize the problematic concrete slabs. After drilling very small, minimally invasive holes into the concrete, special equipment was used to inject high-density polyurethane underneath the concrete. This material expands under the concrete to fill any voids, and this allows or the exact lifting and leveling of the slabs.
PolyRenewal is lightweight, yet very durable. It will not wash out from under the concrete. The material’s quick cure time also allows for normal traffic and weight on the concrete to resume just 15 minutes after installation.
Joint sealant also was used on the joints and former cracks for additional protection.
The homeowner is pleased this unique repair project was completed to help her create a safer living environment.
