A longtime homeowner in Ocoee, FL, wanted to ensure the safety of her property. She recently noticed cracks and uneven concrete along her driveway and front sidewalk. She knew these problems needed to be addressed sooner rather than later.
It is not uncommon for concrete to sink over time. The soil underneath the heavy concrete can give way to the weight of the slab, and it can wash out. Without anything underneath to support it, the concrete will settle and result in cracks and noticeable gaps between the slabs. These are unsightly tripping hazards for everyone.
After spotting Florida Foundation Authority service vehicles in the area, she was motivated to contact us for assistance. One of our inspectors visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the property. Our inspector also identified what unsafe areas needed to be corrected.
Per our inspector’s recommendations, one of our crews, led by Foreman Nathan Meyers, installed PolyRenewal to lift, level and stabilize the concrete.
Small, minimally invasive holes are first drilled into the sinking slabs. Injection ports are then placed in these holes. Special equipment is used to inject structural-grade polyurethane underneath the slabs. This high-density, foamy material expands to fill any voids. This allows for the precise lifting and leveling of the slabs.
The joints and any cracks also were filled, repaired, and protected by special joint sealant that was applied to the driveway and walkway.
While PolyRenewal is lightweight, it also is high-capacity and waterproof. It will not wash out from under the concrete, and its quick cure time allows repaired concrete to be driven or walked on just 15 minutes after installation.
The homeowner was excited this reliable, state-of-the-art project was completed on the property. She now has a safer living environment she will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
